Andermatt is celebrating the festival of music – free, lively and diverse. In a relaxed atmosphere with live music, culinary offerings and good company, the event invites you to linger, discover and enjoy.

The grand finale will be a concert by the Swiss Orchestra at 5 pm in the Andermatt Concert Hall: The alphorn player Lisa Stoll will be joining the Swiss Orchestra to present Swiss folk melodies and music by Leopold Mozart, while the violinist Yuki Hirano will offer an embarrassment of riches with a neoclassical work and a virtuosic Carmen Fantasy. Franz Waxman’s Carmen Fantasy for violin and string orchestra brings the loveliest melodies from Bizet’s opera into the concert hall. The programme also features two Nature-inspired pieces for the unusual combination of string orchestra and alphorn (played here by Lisa Stoll): Hans-Jürg Sommer’s Alp-Sommer and Leopold Mozart’s Sinfonia Pastorella. Edvard Grieg’s Two Nordic Melodies for string orchestra, as their title suggests, are derived from Norwegian folk music, though with a deeply atmospheric sense of harmony. Alexey Shor’s Violin Concerto (with Yuki Hirano as soloist) combines virtuosic passages with youthful cheerfulness. Samuel Barber’s Adagio for Strings offers a very different mood – it’s even been voted the saddest piece of classical music by listeners of the BBC.

CHR!GEL
Chrigel Baumann, who grew up in the valley in Uri, is passionately dedicated to music in the local dialect. His new album: ‘Berguf — Bergab’.
FRÄNGGI & MARIA GEHRIG
These two well-known local heroes are deeply rooted in Swiss folk music, yet are also inspired by classical and jazz.
DANI HÄUSLER
This innovative folk musician combines tradition with experimentation and has been delighting audiences with his clarinet playing for decades.
SHERNIYAZ MUSSAKHAN
As concertmaster of the Swiss Orchestra, he has built up his own fan base — today he shines in Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons”.
CHRISTOPH PFÄNDLER
The dulcimer virtuoso has an open mind towards folk music, classical, metal and rock ’n’ roll, and explores new sonic worlds as a soloist, composer and lecturer.
NADJA RÄSS
The passionate singing teacher and professor of yodelling also enjoys bringing new forms of yodelling to the stage herself.
ANINA SIALM
With her expressive voice and sensitive guitar playing, this young musician from Uri authentically expresses her passion.
SWISS ORCHESTRA
Classical, innovative, open-minded: the Swiss Orchestra is the orchestra in residence at the Andermatt Concert Hall.
