Alain Claude Sulzer’s breakthrough came in 2004 with his novel Ein perfekter Kellner (“A perfect waiter”). It has since been translated into many other languages, as have his other books. It won the Prix Médicis étranger in France in 2008. His further novels include: Zur falschen Zeit (“At the wrong time”, 2010), Aus den Fugen (“Off the rails”, 2012), Unhaltbare Zustände (“Intolerable conditions”, 2019) and Doppelleben (“Double lives”, 2022). His most recent novel is Fast wie ein Bruder (“Almost like a brother”), which was published in 2024. He is a co-founder of the “LiedBasel” song festival and is an advisor for the “Haydn2032” project and the “Erasmus klingt” festival (“Erasmus sounds”).
